Frequently Asked Questions
Is an immigration evaluation the same as therapy?
No. An immigration mental health evaluation is a structured clinical assessment completed for documentation purposes. Ongoing therapy is a separate service.
Do I need an immigration attorney?
A mental health clinician cannot provide immigration legal advice or determine which immigration benefit you should pursue. We strongly encourage clients to work with a qualified immigration attorney regarding their legal case.
Can my evaluation be completed virtually?
Yes. Virtual immigration evaluations are available to clients throughout Texas. In-person evaluations are also available in New Braunfels.
Are evaluations available in Spanish?
Yes. Immigration evaluations may be completed in either English or Spanish. Documentation will be completed in English
Can my attorney refer me directly?
Yes. We welcome referrals from immigration attorneys and can coordinate appropriately with your attorney when authorization is provided.
Does an evaluation guarantee approval of my immigration case?
No. A clinical evaluation provides mental health documentation that may support an immigration case, but it cannot guarantee a particular legal outcome.
My Choice Counseling & Wellness provides clinical mental health evaluations and does not provide legal advice or legal representation. Immigration eligibility and legal strategy should be discussed with a qualified immigration attorney.
